SciTech
SNAP Graphics IES - solving the "device
driver crisis"
This
white paper describes the SciTech System
Neutral Access Protocol device driver architecture, or SciTech
SNAP for short. SciTech SNAP represents a new paradigm for
device driver development that is radically different from
traditional methods. The SciTech SNAP driver architecture
is the result of over a decade of research and development
by SciTech into solving the problems that plague traditional
device driver development. The SciTech SNAP approach to solving
these problems is centered around a unique Hardware Abstraction
Layer (or HAL), combined with pre-compiled binaries that
run on any operating system within a single processor family.
SciTech SNAP takes the concept of sharing source code and
radically extends to sharing fully tested and certified binary
portable driver images. Read More
