SciTech SNAP Graphics
IES Provides Robust Graphics Support to Windows
CE-Based Devices
Chico, Calif.,
July 26, 2004 -- SciTech Software, Inc. today
announced the release of SciTech SNAP Graphics IES (Industrial
Embedded Systems) for Windows CE. This release is based on
SciTech's state of the art SNAP (System Neutral Access Protocol)
device driver architecture and introduces the power of true
plug-n-play graphics compatibility to Windows CE. By utilizing
this powerful architecture, developers looking to maximize
graphics performance and limit over all footprint now have
the tools available to easily customize their graphics driver
to fit the specific application.
"The SciTech SNAP architecture continues to prove it
is a highly adaptable and very capable solution for our industrial
embedded customers," said Andrew Bloo, Director of Sales
and Marketing for
SciTech Software. "Our latest release for Windows CE combined
with
Microsoft's decision to allow for derivative works based on
Windows
CE source code will undoubtedly usher in a whole new era of
graphics rich embedded devices"
"SciTech SNAP Graphics IES for Windows CE exemplifies
the value-add that our industry partners bring to the Windows
Embedded platform,” said Jane Gilson, group product manager,
Mobile and Embedded Devices Division at Microsoft Corp. "High-quality
third-party driver support enables our joint customers to quickly
bring their Windows CE-powered devices to market.”
SciTech SNAP Graphics IES is a refocused
version of the original enterprise edition of SciTech SNAP
and was developed in response
to increased demand for a customizable, industrial strength
embedded graphics driver solution. SciTech SNAP Graphics IES
today provides developers in the fast growing industrial embedded
markets with a true "COTS" solution for graphic device
support with the flexibility that SciTech products are known
for. The initial release of SciTech
IES supported such OS's as; Embedded Linux (running X11 or
QT), SciTech MGL, DOS and OS/2 on the x86 platform and has
now matured to include advanced support for Windows CE.
SciTech's flexible solutions provide the ability for system
developers to quickly adapt to changes in market demand and
therefore reduce the cost of changes to the original specifications.
By adding the flexibility to easily change graphics cards,
developers are free to take advantage of new and more powerful
hardware or lower cost solutions without the need to rework
their custom applications. The introduction of the IES product
line provides SciTech Software Inc with the unique ability
to provide total solutions to both the enterprise and industrial/embedded
market segments.
