SciTech Software Inc
Releases a Revolutionary Service for Linux Users.
Chico, Calif., June 9, 2004 -- SciTech Software, Inc. today announced
the official release of the world’s first web-based, graphics-driver
build system with support for Windows, Linux, OS/2 and more. With SciTech’s
exclusive online build system users can now easily configure, build and
install certified SciTech SNAP Graphics drivers on their home machines,
for non-commercial use free of charge. This new personal edition of SciTech’s
popular graphics driver solution is known as SciTech
SNAP Graphics PE (Personal Edition) and comes fully equipped with support for a user selected chipset
and all available features. This differs from the enterprise editions,
which according to SciTech now supports nearly 200 different chipsets in
a single certified package thus simplifying driver administration on large
enterprises.
To simplify access to SciTech’s Powerful online build system, SciTech
also announced the release of an easy to use portal called, “My
SciTech” [http://my.scitechsoft.com].
This web based service allows users to store their custom build settings
for easy recreation of their “PE” driver, as well as providing
access to SciTech online support tools, documentation and latest product
updates. In the future, customers who wish to upgrade to the enterprise
or industrial embedded editions will be easily able to do so through the
My SciTech web service, with the added value of also being able to manage
their license and support contracts.
“SciTech SNAP Graphics PE, and the My SciTech web service, represent
a revolutionary step forward for end-users whom choose to use non traditional
operating systems such as Linux or have advanced display needs not met
by mass market OEM drivers.” said Andrew Bloo Director of Sales and
Marketing for SciTech Software Inc. “This announcement will likely
prove to be a major turning point in the industry for how drivers are delivered,
and will allow us to more effectively address the ever changing needs of
our world-wide customer base.”
SciTech
SNAP Graphics PE contains all of the features found
in the Enterprise Edition of SciTech SNAP Graphics, including
advanced acceleration, custom mode support and powerful display
control. In fact the only real difference between the commercial
version and the non-commercial version is the license [http://my.scitechsoft.com/licenses/license_home.html].
In addition to the license difference the personal edition
includes support for a single graphics device, which you
specify in your My SciTech user profile. This can be easily
changed at anytime to accommodate upgrades to your hardware
or supported operating system. Should you require support
for multiple chipsets and or need a solution for non-personal
use i.e. an office environment, you can easily upgrade "PE" to
either the ENT or IES commercial editions.
SciTech SNAP Graphics PE, is provided under the terms of our non-commercial
use license [http://my.scitechsoft.com/licenses/license_home.html], which
allows registered users to benefit from the product in a non-commercial
environment free of charge.
